001

Richie sat at the opposite end of the bar, watching as she quietly sipped on her martini. She'd unknowingly caught his attention the moment she'd walked through the door, and just about every other guy in the room seemed to be fixated on her as well. One by one they'd approached her, offering their best pick up line no doubt, and one by one she'd turned them down. He had to laugh at their attempts, and the way she handled them.

She'd been polite at first, seemingly more embarrassed at rejecting these guys than they were at being rejected. But as the night wore on and the drinks piled up, she was becoming a little... less reserved, which made things more interesting. It amused him anyway.

He contemplated his next move for a good five minutes, wondering if he should bother or not, finally deciding that there was no harm in trying. He downed the last of his beer and motioned one of the waiter's over, ordering another before whispering something into his ear. Richie then sat back and watched as the young man made his way over to this woman, hoping not to be rejected like the rest.

The empathetic look on the waiter's face told him he had.

"Sorry, sir." he said as he approached Richie. "She thanks you, but she's not looking for any company tonight." The waiter paused for a second before continuing, "She said it would be a bad idea."

Bad idea? This confused Richie, especially as the waiter said it like there was some hidden meaning he should understand in that little message. But he didn't. Was it just a general rule for her? Don't converse with guys in bars... musicians maybe? Me? You pompous shit, she's probably never even heard of you.

He cringed at his own assumption... like everyone in the world should know who you are.

But then again, maybe that was the reason she didn't think it would be a good idea.

Richie sighed as he looked in her direction once more, only to find her staring right back at him. They both smiled as their eyes met, and for a fleeting second it seemed as though they were the only two people left on Earth. He felt like he was peering into the deepest part of her soul, and she his.

It was then that a warm feeling of familiarity rushed over him, and he was damn sure she felt it too. A slight blush before suddenly breaking their gaze and completely turning away from him had given it away... pompous shit or not, she does, he thought as he smiled to himself.

Personally or as a fan, he wasn't sure, but she knew who he was.

He started racking his brain, searching the deepest, darkest corners of his mind trying to remember, but nothing came, and it was killing him. Forgetting a beauty like her seemed impossible... it could have been years ago.

Maybe they didn't know each other at all... only one way to find out.
